Acceptance

By installing or using Open SEO Checker (the "Tool"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Tool.

Description of the Tool

Open SEO Checker is a free, open-source, locally-run SEO crawler and auditing tool. It runs a server on your own machine, stores all data in local SQLite databases, and provides a web-based dashboard at localhost:7437. The Tool is provided at no cost, with no subscription, no paid tier, and no license key required.

License

Open SEO Checker is released under the MIT License. You are free to use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and/or sell copies of the software, subject to the MIT License terms. Source code is available at github.com/cuongquachc88/open-seo-checker.

Acceptable Use

You agree to use Open SEO Checker only on websites and domains for which you have authorisation to crawl. You agree not to:

  • Crawl websites without permission from their owner or operator
  • Use the Tool to conduct denial-of-service attacks or overwhelm target servers with excessive requests
  • Violate any applicable law, regulation, or third-party terms of service while using the Tool
  • Circumvent robots.txt directives in a way that violates a site's terms of service

The Tool respects robots.txt by default. Disabling this is your responsibility.

Third-Party Services

Optional integrations (Google Analytics, Search Console, PageSpeed Insights, Ahrefs, Majestic, Moz, OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, and others) are subject to their respective terms of service. The developer of Open SEO Checker is not responsible for those services, their availability, pricing, or policies. You are responsible for complying with each provider's terms when using their API through this Tool.

Your Data & Your Responsibility

  • All crawl data and exports are stored locally on your machine. You are responsible for managing, backing up, and securing this data.
  • API keys you enter are stored in your browser's local storage. You are responsible for the security of your API keys.
  • The developer has no access to your crawl data, exported files, or API keys at any time.

Disclaimer of Warranties

The Tool is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of SEO analysis results, or non-infringement.

SEO recommendations produced by the Tool are informational only. They do not constitute professional SEO advice. Search engine algorithms change frequently; results may not reflect current ranking factors.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer shall not be liable for any:

  • Loss or corruption of crawl data or exported files
  • Damage caused by crawling a target website (e.g., server overload)
  • Costs incurred through use of third-party APIs enabled by the Tool
  • Indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from use of, or inability to use, the Tool
  • Inaccurate or incomplete SEO analysis results

Updates to These Terms

These terms may be updated at any time. Changes will be communicated via the GitHub repository's release notes and reflected in the "Last updated" date on this page. Continued use of the Tool after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
